I regularly bring current issues of inequality and oppression into my classroom. I believe in teaching students to use sociology to understand and challenge systems of power and inequality. I strive to center marginalized voices in my teaching, and to create a classroom community that encourages students to think through their own experiences and the experiences of others. My courses also devote time to the mechanisms of social change, exploring activism and social movements from a historic and strategic perspective.
